Sometimes we walk to him apprehensively putting one foot in front of the other. We timidly ask ‘will He accept us?’
With arms wide open and a smile, He declares ‘yes my child come to me.’
Sometimes we come apologising the whole way. We say sorry again and again. Sure, this is the last time.
With arms wide open and a smile, He says shush my child you’re already forgiven.
Sometimes we stumble towards Him. We can’t see for all the tears welling up.
With arms wide open and a smile, He envelopes us and pulls us into His lap. He whispers it will be ok, strokes our hair and sings us to sleep.
Sometimes we storm right up you Him. We scream expletives as Him ‘why me?’
With arms wide open and a smile, He listens and calms us to show us the bigger picture.
Sometimes we run to him singing and dancing. We tell Him rapidly about our great day.
With arms wide open and a smile, He celebrates with us.
Sometimes there’s no feelings at all. We come to Him and sit in silence.
With arms wide open and a smile, He sits in the silence too.
Sometimes we sing praises to Him. Worshiping with our whole being.
With arms wide open and a smile, He receives the worship humbly.
Sometimes we don’t come at all.
With arms wide open He waits.
